Beckett Helps PawSox to Win
July 11, 2010 - International League (IL1)
Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
Boston Red Sox star Josh Beckett looked strong as he pitched four innings on Sunday afternoon in front of nearly 11,00 fans at McCoy. Beckett allowed one run on a homer by Jason Botts. Otherwise, he showed great velocity, topping out at 96 mph with his fastball. He allowed just 2 hits and didn't walk a batter in his first start since going on the disabled list with back problems in May. Beckett refused to speak to the media after his start.
Rich Hill, Michael Bowden, Blake Maxwell and Fernando Cabrera completed the task of shutting down the Chiefs. Bowden, (6-3) earned the win and Cabrera picked up his thirteenth save.
Pawtucket scored all they'd need in the first inning. Two runs on 4 hits. All Star Bubba Bell and catcher Mark Wagner had RBI singles. Ryan Kalish and Lars Anderson had two hits apiece. Kalish stole 3 bases in the contest.
Bubba Bell will play in the Triple A All Star game in Lehigh Valley, while the rest of the PawSox enjoy the three days off. League play resumes on Thursday in Syracuse at 7:00 p.m.
