Frontenacs Trade for Goaltender

The Kingston Frontenacs announce today that they have acquired import goaltender Philip Grubauer from the Windsor Spitfires in a multiplayer deal. Grubauer backstopped the Windsor Spitfires to their second OHL title and their second consecutive Memorial Cup championship this past May in Brandon, MB.

"We feel we have a very competitive hockey club this year and when the opportunity to add a goaltender of his caliber to our roster, we took the necessary steps to do so," said Larry Mavety, Director of Hockey Operations and General Manager. "With both a League and a Memorial Cup title under his belt, we believe that he will bring that winning attitude to our Club'" he added.

Grubauer was selected this past Saturday at the NHL Entry in Los Angeles by the Washington Capitals in the fourth round 112th overall. Last season in a split between Belleville and Windsor, he had a 23-15-2-5 record with an amazing 13-1-1-1 record after the trade. In the play-offs Grubauer went 16-1-1 with 2 shutouts. The native of Rosenheim Germany also represented Germany at the World U20's this past year.

Along with Grubauer, the Frontenac's receive the Spitfires first round European Selection this year (56th overall), in exchange for Kingston 2nd round pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, Kingston first round European Selection this year (26th), the rights to Nick Czinder and the rights to A.J. Jarosz Grubauer will report to the Club at training camp.
