The PawSox rallied for 2 runs in the top of the eighth inning and another in the ninth against the previously impenetrable Jonathan Albaladejo on Monday night, but came up short, falling to Scranton 3-3. The runs tied the game at 2-2 in the eighth and 3-3 in the ninth, but the Yankees came up with the winner in the bottom of the ninth.
The Sox fell behind early as Scranton scored in the second on a pair of doubles. A sacrifice fly by former Pawtucket infielder Jeff Natale in the seventh made it 2-0. Pawtucket knotted it up on a sacrifice fly by Josh Reddick and a base hit by Bubba Bell. Bell is 7 for his last 8 and hitting a team-high .293 for the season.
Michael Bowden threw a solid 6.2 innings, allowing just 2 runs on 6 hits. Bowden struck out 7 Albaladejo had converted 27 straight save opportunities, dating back to last August 20.
The series continues on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Ramon Ramirez (1-2, 5.50) faces Zack McAllister (5-4, 4.56).
