Chad Paronto hit Chris Denove with a pitch with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the eighth to break a 3-3 tie and propel the Bats to a 4-3 win on a gorgeous Sunday evening in Kentucky. The Sox struck early. In the first, Niuman Romero singled and scored on a base hit by Lars Anderson. Pawtucket would not score again until the eighth, when Daniel Nava clobbered his eighth homer of the year, a two run blast that knotted the game.

Chris Valaika, Drew Sutton and Todd Frazier each had an rbi for the Bats. Denove had the game winning rbi after being grazed by a Paronto offering.

The PawSox have lost 8 of their last 10 on the road. With nine road wins, Pawtucket is the only I.L. team not in double figures in that category.

Randor Bierd made his first start in a month after having shoulder issues that landed him on the disabled list. Bierd pitched well for the most part, working 3.1 innings, allowing 2 runs. Fabio Castro went 3.2 innings out of the pen. Paronto takes the loss, falling to 2-4.

The series concludes on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Arolids Chapman (5-2, 3.42) faces Felix Doubront (1-1, 0.77).
