Catcher Dusty Brown blasted a three-run homer with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth on Thursday night at McCoy to lift Pawtucket to a 5-4 win over the Tides. Brown found the PawSox bullpen on a deep fly off loser Kam Mickolio. Brown had already knocked in a run with a double in the seventh. Angel Sanchez knocked in the other Pawtucket run. Brown, an avid fan of "American Idol" joked after the game that he dedicated his game winner to this seasons' runner up, Crystal Bowersox.
Starter Boof Bonser survived a slow start to throw six shutout innings at the Tides. Bonser didn't figure in the decision. He scattered 4 hits and struck out 5. Scott Atchison gave up the four runs scored by Norfolk. T.J. Large (1-0) earned the win with a 1-2-3 ninth. Dustin Richardson continued his brilliant relief, notching two more scoreless innings, striking out 3.
The series continues on friday night at 7:05 p.m. Troy Patton (2-6, 6.56) faces lefty Felix Doubront. (0-0, 0.00).
