G-Braves Fall to Louisville, 6-0

The Lead: The Louisville Bats defeated the Gwinnett Braves 6-0 on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field. The G-Braves offense could not figure out Louisville starting pitcher Aroldis Chapman, who shut out Gwinnett in 5 innings of work. No one in the Gwinnett lineup had an RBI. Gwinnett (20-26) remains in a second place tie with Norfolk in the International League South and 5.5 games behind Durham. Louisville (22-25) remains in last place in the IL West and 6.5 games behind Columbus.

It Was Over When: Chapman took the mound. No Gwinnett player was able to get more than one hit. He also struck out 7 batters.

Braves Beat:

On the Mound: Starter Jo-Jo Reyes (0-1) allowed 4 R/ER on 4 hits in 4.0 IP. All of his runs were given up in the first inning.

At the plate: Jordan Schafer (1-for-4) and Wes Timmons (1-for-4) each had a double on the night while Luis Bolivar (1-for-1) had a triple.

The Opposition:

On the Mound: Chapman allowed 3 hits and had only 1 walk.

At the plate: Wladimir Balentien went 2-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Luis Terrero went 3-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI.

On Deck: Gwinnett takes on Louisville in the second game of a four-game series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field. Louisville LHP Matt Maloney (4-1, 2.72 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Bats. No pitcher has been announced for the G-Braves.
