Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Despite a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning, the Kannapolis Intimidators allow their biggest come-from-behind defeat of the season to the Asheville Tourists by the score of 7-6 on Friday night in game two of a four game series.

The Intimidators (22-20) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning as Kevin Dubler reached on an error and scored on a bases loaded hit by pitch by Kyle Colligan. Ian Gac grounded into a double play to end the inning.

In the next inning, Nick Ciolli reached on a bunt single and stole second before Jose Vargas hit an RBI-double, he was brought in by Jesus Villegas who singled and he scored on a double by Rafael Vera. The Intimidators were out to a 4-0 lead off starter Juan Gonzalez and Justin Collop had been working well so things looked good for Kannapolis.

However, in the bottom of the fourth off Collop (2-4) the Tourists (15-25) put up two runs on three hits and they added five runs in the fifth as the Tourists belted out seven hits and five runs off Collop as they took a 7-4 lead they eventually held on to. The Intimidators came back with two two-out runs in the eighth, but went down quietly as Sheng-an Kuo worked his second save of the year. Chad Rose (2-2) pitched three scoreless to pick up the win.

The Intimidators put up 10 hits for the second straight time, but failed to win for the third time in an attempt to go to four games above .500. They now trail the first-place Hickory Crawdads by four games.

The Intimidators will look to Matt Hopps (0-2) to turn things around on Saturday at 7:05 and he will be opposed by Wes Musick.
