Jake Arrieta is rated the fourth best prospect in the Orioles chain, and on Thursday night, the PawSox found out why. Arrieta pitched 7 scoreless innings, with 10 strikeouts to lead Norfolk past Pawtucket, 8-1. Arrieta (4-2, 1.93) scattered 4 hits, never more than one in any single inning. The only PawSox run came on a solo home run in the ninth for Lars Anderson. Anderson and Ryan Khoury had 2 hits. The others belonged to Jorge Jimenez, Josh Reddick and Bubba Bell. Bell extended his personal hitting streak to 11 games.

Fabio Castro (2-3) surrendered 6 runs in 4.2 innings. The Tides exploded for 5 runs in the fifth, to chase Castro. Scott Moore and Brandon Snyder had 3 rbi each.

The PawSox will try to salvage a split of the series on Friday at 7:15 p.m. Adam Mills (1-3, 4.25) will pitch for the Sox.
