LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

At Worcester (5/5): Goaltender Jonathan Bernier blanked the Worcester Sharks and left wing Bud Holloway tied the American Hockey League record for game-winning goals in a single playoff season with six as the Manchester Monarchs skated to a victorious 1-0 win at the DCU Center on Wednesday night. Holloway tallied the lone goal in the game. Bernier (7-2) earned his second shutout of the playoffs with 30 saves. Sharks netminder Alex Stalock (6-4) took his fourth post-season loss with 24 saves on 25 shots. Manchester went 0-for-5 on the power play. Worcester was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Vs Worcester (5/7): Defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov scored his first goal of the playoffs at 1:55 of overtime to give the Manchester Monarchs a 2-1 victory over the Worcester Sharks at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night in game six to advance them to the 2010 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Final against the Hershey Bears. Center Gabe Gauthier scored in regulation for the Monarchs and Voynov finished off the Sharks in overtime with his first tally of the playoffs. Center Ryan Vesce tallied the lone goal for the Sharks. Monarchs goaltender Jonathan Bernier (8-2) recorded his eighth victory of the playoffs, stopping 28-of -29 shots on net. Sharks netminder Alex Stalock (6-5) drew the loss, halting 25-of-27 shots on goal. Manchester went 1-for-3 on the power play. Worcester was 0-for-1 with the man advantage.

NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (8-2) advanced to the 2010 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Final against the Hershey Bears with a 2-1 overtime win against the Worcester Sharks on Friday night.

The Monarchs have advanced to the Eastern Conference Final for only the second time in franchise history. Manchester previously met the Bears in the conference final during the 2007 Calder Cup playoffs and were swept by Hershey in four games.

During the regular season, the Monarchs and Bears finished with an even head-to-head record of 1-1.

The Monarchs handed the Bears one of only four regulations losses at the Giant Center during the regular season.

Thus far in the playoffs, the Monarchs have won eight games and lost two.

Left wing Bud Holloway (6-5=11) leads the Monarchs in goals scored with six tallies and points with 11. All of Holloway's goals have also been game-winners which ties him with right wing Darren Haydar for the most game-winning goals in one AHL post-season. Haydar completed his six game-winners in 21 games during the 2006 Calder Cup playoffs with the Milwaukee Admirals. Holloway has six game-winning goals in just 10 games this post-season.

Holloway is the only player in the AHL with six game-winning goals in the playoffs this season.

Holloway six tallies are tied for sixth place in the AHL.

Holloway is the only player to collect a point in all 10 games this post-season with 11 points (6-5=11). It's also the longest scoring streak in the Monarchs playoff history.

Center Justin Azevedo (2-6=8) has scored at least a point in seven of the 10 playoff games this post-season.

Azevedo is in sole possession of second place on the Monarchs roster.

Right wing Trevor Lewis (5-2=7) and center Corey Elkins (3-4=7) are ranked third on the Monarchs roster with seven points in 10 games.

Lewis is in second place on the Monarchs roster with five goals.

Center Gabe Gauthier (3-3=6), center Oscar Moller (2-4=6), left wing Dwight King (1-5=6) and center Andrei Loktionov (0-6=6) are tied for fourth place on the Monarchs with six points each.

Gauthier is on a four-game point streak with four points (3-1=4) since game three of the Atlantic Division Final on Friday, April 30.

Loktionov is tied with Azevedo for the team lead in assists with six assists each.

Defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov (1-3=4) scored the fastest overtime goal in team history when he scored 1:55 into overtime in game six of the Atlantic Division Final against the Sharks on Friday, May 7.

Defensemen Andrew Campbell (1-3=4) and Jacob Muzzin (0-1=1) joined defenseman Mark Ardelan, center Marty Murray and center Patrick O'Sullivan among Monarchs players who have registered a plus/minus of plus-3 in a single game. Campbell and Muzzin picked up plus-3 ratings in the Monarchs 3-1 win over the Portland Pirates on Saturday, April 17.

The Monarchs scored a goal within the first 35 seconds of the game in three consecutive playoff games. Center Marc-Andre Cliche scored 35 seconds into the Monarchs 2-1 win over Portland on Monday, April 19; Lewis scored 31 seconds into the team's 7-2 win over Portland on Tuesday, April 20 and Moller scored 35 seconds into the Monarchs 4-3 loss to Worcester on Sunday, April 25. The fastest opening goal in the Monarchs playoff history came when right wing Tim Jackman scored 28 seconds into the Monarchs 4-3 victory over the Providence Bruins on May 12, 2007.

Defenseman Joe Piskula (1-2=3) and Holloway lead the Monarchs in plus/minus and are tied for second place in the AHL with plus-8 ratings through the first 10 games of the playoffs.

Goaltender Jonathan Bernier is 8-2 between the pipes this post-season. His 1.48 goals-against-average ranks first in the AHL and his .952 save percentage also leads the league. He's stopped 296-of-311 shots through 606 minutes of play.
