Flowers Not Enough for Knights on Mother's Day

The PawSox had a season-high, 8 run outburst in the sixth inning on Mothers Day afternoon, and that was enough to beat Charlotte, 8-3. The Knights moved out to an early 2-0 lead. Tyler Flowers belted a solo home run off eventual winner Michael Bowden. The Knights would not score again until they got one last run in the sixth. Bowden (1-1) labored through the first two innings, but settled down to strike out 5 in 5.2 innings. Joe Nelson came in to pitch 2 shutout frames, whiffing 4. Dustin Richardson pitched the final inning and a third. He struck out one batter.
In the Pawtucket half of the sixth, 12 men came to the plate and 8 scored. Tug Hulett had a 2 run double. Three batters later, Dusty Brown had a 2 run double, as well. After an rbi single by Jorge Jimenez, Daniel Nava hammered a three run homer. Jimenez and Angel Sanchez had two hits apiece.
The PawSox (12-18) return to McCoy Stadium for a series against Gwinnett that begins Monday night at 6:15 p.m. Chris Resop (2-1, 2.35) faces Randor Bierd (2-2, 5.48).
