Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

J.T. Brown and Tyler Barnes grew up just a few miles apart and played on the same or opposing teams all through youth hockey. Friday evening they both scored their 30th goal of the season as the Waterloo Black Hawks rallied past the Des Moines Buccaneers 8-6.

Brown celebrated a four-goal night, leading the Black Hawks back from deficits in both the second and third periods. Down 4-3 in the middle period, Brown scored twice in just over two minutes to swing Waterloo in front. He did the same thing within a four minute span in the third after the Hawks had fallen behind 6-5. Barnes added an insurance goal with 3:09 remaining to help secure the victory.

Early, the Hawks fell behind 1-0, then 3-1 in the opening 20 minutes. Scores by Patrick Divjak and Scott Wamsganz in the first, then Soren Jonzzon in the second helped Waterloo draw even. From the opposite bench, Jack Berger netted two shots to lead the Bucs during the offensive affair.

Waterloo moves on to face the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Saturday at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The Hawks are back at home Wednesday to host the Sioux Falls Stampede in a rescheduled game at 7:05. All tickets are $5 for the matchup which was originally scheduled for February 3rd.
