March 2, 2010 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
NEW YORK, March 2, 2010 - The Houston Rockets today signed Will Conroy of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Conroy's is the 17th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 season and the fifth of Conroy's career, including the second to Houston this season.
Conroy, a 6-2 guard out of Washington, has appeared in 19 games, 17 starts, for Rio Grande Valley this season, averaging 15.7 points, 10.1 assists (second in the NBA D-League) and 6.2 rebounds. He has recorded three triple-doubles this season, including a season-high 31 points to go with 14 rebounds and 12 assists in a 136-128 overtime victory over the Springfield Armor on Feb. 26.
Conroy rejoins the Rockets following a GATORADE Call-Up on Jan. 28, when he appeared in two games, scoring four points, dishing out two assists and grabbing two rebounds in 20 minutes. Previously signed as a free agent by the Rockets on Sept. 22, 2009, Conroy averaged 6.0 points and 2.6 assists in five preseason games with Houston before being waived on Oct. 22, 2009.
A two-time NBA D-League All-Star in his fifth NBA D-League season, Conroy is the NBA Development League's all-time leader in assists (1,460), minutes played (6,498), field goals made (1,059), free throws made (738) and free throws attempted (1,049). He is second all-time in points (3,075) and field goals attempted (2,208), and third all-time in steals (270) and games played (171).
Conroy has also seen NBA action during the 2006-07 season with the L.A. Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies. He has appeared in nine career NBA games, dishing out 11 assists, grabbing nine rebounds and scoring four points in 72 minutes.
A standout at the University of Washington, Conroy finished his career with the Huskies as the all-time leader in assists. Originally a walk-on at Washington, Conroy was the first Husky player to ever top 200 assists in a season. The Seattle native also finished his four-year college career 21st on the Huskies all-time scoring list and led Washington to its first-ever Pac-10 Tournament Championship as a senior in 2004-05 while earning Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 honors.
Conroy is expected to re-join the Rockets today and be available tomorrow when the team hosts the Sacramento Kings at Toyota Center in Houston.
