Americans Take First Of Back-To-Back Games In Arizona 3-2 In OT

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Arizona - The Allen Americans beat the Arizona Sundogs 3-2 in overtime in the first of back-to-back games at Tim's Toyota Center in Arizona tonight. The Americans are 34-11-4 (72 points) and second in the Southern Conference.
Defenseman Mike Salekin opened scoring in this evening's contest with 3:06 remaining in the first period. The tally was Salekin's first goal as an Allen American.
Arizona's Konrad Reeder tied the game 20 seconds into the second, but 2010 CHL All-Star Bruce Graham helped the Americans regain their one-goal advantage at 6:34 of the middle frame. Graham's shot trickled through the legs of Sundogs netminder Doug Groenestege.
Allen had a 2-1 lead until Reeder scored his second goal of the night with five seconds left in regulation. The goal sent the game into overtime.
The Americans won the game on their first shot in overtime when Graham recorded his second goal. The final score was 3-2, Allen.
Americans netminder Chris Whitley made 26 saves while Groenestege had 22 stops.
The Americans finish their stretch of six games in eight nights tomorrow with another 8:05 p.m. CST matchup with Arizona. Fans are invited to watch the game at Boston's Gourmet Pizza in McKinney.
