Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The Alaska Aces have signed Anchorage-born Moises Gutierrez to an ECHL contract. He likely will make his Aces debut this weekend against Idaho.

Originally a sixth round pick (#164 overall) of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2004 NHL Draft, Gutierrez grew up in Anchorage, attended Service High School, and played against the Aces in the 2007 preseason as a member of the Texas Wildcatters. The 6-4, 227-pound winger played five full seasons in the Western Hockey League, four in Kamloops (33g-53a) and one in Everett, where he led the Silvertips with 35 goals and finished fourth with 55 points in 2006-07. The 23-year-old Gutierrez helped the U.S. team win the Under-18 gold medal in 2003.

The Aces (4-2) play host to the unbeaten Steelheads (5) this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in an early season showdown for first place in the West Division. The first two games against the Steelheads will start at 7:15 p.m. AT, while Sunday's series finale begins at 5:05 p.m. and features the first postgame "Skate with the Aces," presented by Fred Meyer. All three games will be broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM.
