
Buccaneers Prevail at Home; Beat Lincoln 3-2

DES MOINES, IA - The Buccaneers were able to take care of business against the Lincoln Stars for the first time since November 10th, 2007. With three powerplay goals from three different players - the Buccaneers topped the Stars 3-2.
The first period would go scoreless until Brandon Carlson, with assists from Eric Knodel and T.J. Tynan, took advantage of a Buccaneer powerplay and put the Bucs on the board. Tensions would run high until Buccaneer Connor Brickley and Star Cory Hibbeler would drop their gloves at the 17:43 mark. Following the fight defenseman Austin Coldwell, with an assist from T.J. Tynan, scored for the Bucs during a powerplay at the 18:22 mark of the period. The Buccaneers were able to keep the Stars off the board the entire period.
Lincoln would score twice late in the second, until defenseman Eric Knodel scored with just one second left in the period. The powerplay goal, with assists from T.J. Tynan and Chris Stafne, would be the game winning goal for the Bucs, as neither team would score in the third period.
The Buccaneers would have 29 shots on goal, go 3 for 9 on the powerplay and serve 23 minutes on 10 infractions. Goalie Eric Mihalik would record the win, stopping 34 of 36 shots on goal. Eric Knodel, T.J. Tynan and Austin Coldwell would be named stars of the game.
