Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Missouri Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman announced Tuesday the Central Hockey League (CHL) club has signed forward Nick Sirota and traded for forward Karl Sellan. Sellan was traded from the Arizona Sundogs in exchange for future considerations. Hillman also announced that Mavericks' forward Kyle Bochek has been placed on the 30-day injured reserve.

Sellan, 24 (4/4/85), is in his fourth season in the CHL having played the previous three seasons with the Arizona Sundogs. Prior to this season, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound left wing is the Sundogs all-time leader in penalty minutes (845), goals (79), power play goals (37) and game-winning goals (10). The Montreal, Quebec native has a total of 124 regular-season points (73-51=124) in 182 games played. Prior to turning pro, Sellan won back-to-back-to-back championships with the Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). In order to complete the trade, the rights of a player to be named after the season will be traded to the Sundogs.

"Karl is a proven performer in the CHL," said Hillman. "He is a 20-plus goal scorer for three straight years, and won a championship with Arizona two-years ago. Karl will have an immediate impact on our team with his leadership and energy."

Sirota, 25 (1/28/84), is entering his rookie season having played for Northern Michigan University the past four seasons. The Fox Lake, Wisconsin native joined the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads last season for three games after completing his college career and had a goal and two assists with the Steelheads. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward finished with 45 goals and 45 assists in 145 games played with Northern Michigan and has his best season as a junior when he finished second on the team in scoring with 36 points (18-18=36) in 43 games.

"Nick is a young exciting player and acquired ECHL experience after graduating last year," said Hillman. "He proved that he can put points on the board in the pro game and we will put him in a key offensive role where he will also contribute on the power play."

Bochek did not play in either of the Mavericks' first two games in Rapid City. The rookie from Port Severn, Ontario was injured in the second pre-season game in Wichita and has been placed on the 30-day injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

Single-game tickets are now on sale for all 32 of the Mavericks' home games. Season tickets, group tickets and mini-plans are available by calling the Mavericks front office at (816) 252-7825. For more information, please visit www.MissouriMavericks.com.
