Record Setting 08-09 for Thinel: Last season in a March 15th win over Amarillo, Sebastien Thinel broke a pair of franchise records with his 56th assist of the season, then his 95th point of the year with a goal in the second period.

Offensive History: Last season the Jackalopes scored 260 goals in the regular season which is the second most all time in franchise history. The Jackalopes franchise record for goals scored in a season is 262 Faces in 09-10: Last season the Jackalopes entered their first game with eight returning players on their roster. This year the Jacks have 15.

Thinel, Pierce, Toivonen named to All-League Teams: Three Jacks players received All-League Honors last season. Sebastien Thinel was named to the All-CHL Team along with Kevin Ulanski Riley Nelson Dale Lupul Aaron Schneekloth and Kevin Beech Jeff Pierce and Juha Toivonen were named to the leagues All-Rookie Team along with Darryl Smith Adam Perry Nicholas Dumoulin and Dane Marshall Finalists Last Season: Russ Moyer was a finalist for the CHLs Most Outstanding Defenseman award, and Jeff Pierce was a finalist for the CHL Rookie of the Year.

Never Missing a Beat: Four players for the Jacks appeared in all 64 games last season. Jeff Pierce, Russ Moyer, Kory Karlander, and Sebastien Thinel played in every game. Tricks Last Season: The Odessa Jackalopes recorded five hat tricks last season. Brian Swiniarski on November 29th at Tulsa, Sebastien Thinel on December 20th vs. Rio Grande Valley, Kory Karlander on February 27th vs. New Mexico, Thinel again on February 28th vs. Amarillo, and finally Collin Circelli on March 14th at Wichita.

GAME PREVIEW:

Last Game Odessa Jackalopes: Amarillos Mike Brown made 42 saves and held the Jackalopes to just one goal in a 2-1 loss to the Gorillas. Dominic Leveille scored the only goal of the game for Odessa. Joel Martin had a strong night in net stopping 24 of 26 shots, plus a penalty shot late in the third period by Jake Morissette.

Last Game Rio Grande Valley: The Bees opened up their season Saturday night with a 5-3 home loss to Laredo. The Bucks opened up a 3-0 first period lead, and finished the game with a trio of power play goals. Andy Franck took the loss in net for Rio Grande, after making his debut in a Bees uniform.

ODE vs. RGV - Nail Biting 08-09: Last season the Jacks and Bees met seven times. Five of those meetings were decided by just a goal. Three of them needed overtime or a shootout to decide the winner.

Starting Slow: In their first two games of the season the Odessa Jackalopes found themselves trailing at the end of the first periodsomething that only happened 18 times in 64 regular season games last season.

Impact Acquisitions: The Jackalopes return the majority of their players from last season, but added Alex Dunn and Martin Paquet. Dunn returns to Odessa after playing last season in England he was named to the CHLs All-Rookie Team in 2006-2007. The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees bolstered their goaltending and offense this summer by adding forward Daymen Rycroft goals over past two seasons) and goalie Andy Franck 2.68 GAA last year).

Players to Watch: Jacks forwards, Dominic Leveille assists) and Kory Karlander, had goals, five assists) combined for 24 points against the Bees last season. Forward, Jesse Bennefield, led the Killer Bees with 71 points goals, 36 assists) last season.

Strong Start for Martin: Despite the slow start offensively for the Jackalopes, Joel Martin, has been a stabilizing presence in net for the Jacks. The Jackalopes goaltender has stopped 92.5% of the shots hes faced with a 1.94 GAA.

Number 400 for the Jackalopes: The Odessa Jackalopes are one win away from earning their 400th win in franchise history.

Number 200 for Thinel: Jackalopes forward, Sebastien Thinel, is currently one goal away from scoring the 200th of his pro career.

Goals at a Premium for Odessa: Last season the Odessa Jackalopes scored 19 goals in their first three games of the yearthis season Odessa has scored four goals through two games.

- #1 Juha Toivonen recorded the only shutout of the season for Odessa on November 26th at Corpus Christi in a 4-0 win. Toivonen made 19 saves in the game.

- #6 Garrett Gruenke was first among rookies and tied for third among defensemen with 19 major penalties this season.

- #9 Kenny Bernard had 14 points goals, 10 assists) in the last 15 games of the 2009-10 regular season.

- #10 Dominic Leveilles 54 assists last season were one shy of his career high and fourth in the CHL.

- #11 Paul Kelly scored five goals in the last nine games of the regular season, with a +4 rating.

- #16 Collin Circellis 26 goals last season were the most hes scored in a single season at any level. He scored his first pro hat trick on March 14th at Wichita in a 7-3 win.

- #17 Jeff Pierce had 10 points goals, four assists) in the last six games of the season finishing second among CHL rookies with 66 points this season and leading first year players with 44 assists.

- #20 Jean Bourbeau had 25 points last season, and the Jacks were 19-2-1 in games where Bourbeau registered a point. Bourbeau scored two points in the Jacks game three win over Laredo, including the OT winner.

- #23 Brian Swiniarski was one of six 20-goal scorers on the Jackalopes last season, despite missing 10 games at the end of the year.

- #24 Phil Plante finished the regular season on a seven game assist/point streak.

- #27 Dave Van Drunens +21 rating this season is tied for fourth all time in franchise history Allman, 2001-2002). Scott Hillmans +27 in 2001-02 is the franchise record.

- #28 Mike Lesperance was eighth among rookies last season with eight power play goals.

- #33 Kory Karlander finished the regular season seventh in the league with 76 points.

TONIGHTS MATCHUP:

Both the Jackalopes and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees were playoff teams in the Southern Conference last season. The 2008-2009 series was a competitive one between the two teams as Odessa went 3-2-2 against the Bees. Both teams enter the 2009-2010 season with the expectations of returning to the Presidents Cup Playoffs. This is the first of six meetings this season between the two teams.
