The "Lone Star Faceoff" continues tonight in the 79th meeting between the Houston Aeros and San Antonio Rampage, 7:35 p.m. at Toyota Center. The Rampage enter the game with a league-best nine points (4-0-1-0) while the Aeros sit in a tie for fifth in the West Division with four points (2-2-0-0). Tonight is the first of 12 meetings between the Aeros and Rampage.Tonight is Michael Jackson Tribute night at the arena so make sure to arrive early as the first 3,000 fans receive an Aeros novelty glove in honor of the King of Pop.
C Andy Hilbert currently leads the Aeros with three points (1-2=3) and was recalled by Minnesota on Tuesday along with C Nathan Smith. Six Aeros players are have two points for the Aeros and 15 players have recorded a point in the first four games. C Peter Zingoni and D Clayton Stoner lead the team with two goals each.
The Rampage hold a two point lead in the West Division over the Texas Stars. D Sean Sullivan is tied for the league lead in points with eight (2-6=8). C Kevin Porter is second on the team with seven points (2-5=7) and RW Chad Kolarik leads the team with three goals. G Al Montoya is 3-1 with a 2.65 GAA and .907 SV%.
The Aeros finished the 2008-09 regular season with a 6-4 win over the Rampage in front of 7,663 at Toyota Center. LW Krys Kolanos finished the game with an ENG to complete his second hat trick of the year. C Bryan Lundbohm, RW Mathieu Beaudoin and RW Jesse Schultz also scored for the Aeros while G Anton Khudobin saved 28 of 32 to record the win.
Preseason: On Sept. 26 the Aeros defeated San Antonio 3-2 in a shootout at the Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center, the Aeros' official practice facility. RW Duncan Milroy scored in regulation for the Aeros and C Chad Rau netted the GWG in the shootout.
