
Suns Crush BayBears, Extend Division Lead

Mobile, Ala. - Leadoff hitter Bryan Petersen finished four-for-six with a homerun while Ryan Klosterman finished four-for-five and a triple=2 0short of the cycle leading the Jacksonville Suns (73-53, 38-18) to a 10-4 victory over the Mobile BayBears (60-66, 23-33) in front of 3,856 Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The win combined with Birmingham's loss to West Tenn improved Jacksonville's division lead to three games with 14 games to play.
Brett Harker (1-0) picked up the victory, allowing four runs in the second inning before facing the minimum over his final four innings of work. Mobile reliever Kyler Newby (2-3) fell in the loss, giving up three runs and the lead in the seventh inning.
Jacksonville opened the scoring in the first inning when Logan Morrison doubled home Ryan Klosterman for a 1-0=2 0score.
Mobile gained the 4-1 lead in the second inning, scoring all four runs with two out. Evan Frey and Mark Hallberg singled to drive in runs. An error by second baseman Kevin Randel allowed a third run to score while a Cyle Hankerd double added the fourth run.
The Suns cut the lead to two runs in the fifth inning as Ryan Klosterman hit a solo homerun to right field, his seventh of the season.
Jacksonville rallied to take the lead for good in the seventh inning. After a leadoff walk and Bryan Petersen single, Ryan Klosterman laid down a bunt that Mobile first baseman Pete Clifford threw wild past third base to bring in a run for a 4-3 score. Logan Morrison later singled home Petersen for a 4-4 game . Mobile third baseman Bryan Byrne later committed an error on a Lee Mitchell ground ball to allow a fifth run to score for a 5-4 Suns lead.
The Suns broke the game wide open in the eighth inning. With the first two batters of the inning out, Bryan Petersen belted a solo homerun to right-centerfield for a 6-4 score. After an infield hit from Klosterman and walk for Logan Morrison, Mike Stanton tripled to right-centerfield to drive in both runners for the 8-4 lead. Scott Cousins next tripled to left-centerfield to bring Stanton in for the 9-4 advantage. A Lee Mitchell single score Cousins for the 10-4 final.
