Suns Rally Late to Blast BayBears on Latino Night

MOBILE, Ala. - A 4-2 advantage for the BayBears entering the seventh inning dissipated into a 10-4 loss to the Jacksonville Suns on Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium with the Suns exploding for eight runs over the seventh and eighth innings.
A promising start to the evening occurred with the return of Bryan Augenstein to the BayBears (60-66, 23-33) on home turf although he did surrender a first-inning tally as Ryan Klosterman singled with one out and swiped second to set himself in scoring position. Logan Morrison followed with a slashing double down the left field line to put the Suns (73-53, 38-18) up by a run.
A big rally for the BayBears was sparked in the second by Chris Rahl singling against Brett Harker (1-0) who then walked Matt Tupman. After a fielder's choice and a strikeout, it seemed that Harker would get through the frame, but he surrendered back-to-back base hits to Evan Frey and Mark Hallberg, giving the BayBears a 2-1 lead. Kevin Randel booted a grounder at second off the bat of Bryan Byrne to hand the BayBears another score. Hallberg came home on a double by Cyle Hankerd to make it 4-1.
Augenstein departed after three in favor of Cody Evans who also worked three. Klosterman took Evans deep in the fifth to pull Jacksonville within two. It stayed that way until the seventh when Kyler Newby (2-3) walked the first man that he faced before uncorking a single to Bryan Petersen.
Klosterman attempted a sac bunt, but Pete Clifford's throw to third got away from Byrne which allowed Chris De La Cruz to score. Petersen brought the tying run in as he scored on a base hit by Morrison. Newby buckled down to retire the next two hitters, but Byrne bobbled a grounder at third which should have ended the inning to give Jacksonville the lead back.
Newby then surrendered a two-out homer to Petersen in the eighth. Leyson Septimo entered and coughed up a two-run triple to Mike Stanton, an RBI three-bagger to Scott Cousins and an RBI single to Lee Mitchell to put the Suns up by a half-dozen.
