Frisco Loses Late in Corpus Christi

The RoughRiders' bullpen gave up the lead as Corpus Christi scored three runs over the final two innings to defeat Frisco 3-2 on a game-winning hit by Mitch Einertson. Whittleman had two hits for Frisco who collected only seven hits, all singles.

After being held scoreless through five innings, Frisco plated two runs in the sixth frame when Craig Gentry scored on a single by Dustin Majewski who then scored on a Chad Tracy RBI single. The RoughRiders held a 2-0 lead until the eighth when the Hooks tied the score at two on a pair of RBI singles. In the bottom of the ninth, Corpus Christi's Collin DeLome doubled and came around to score on a single by Einertson.

Although Frisco starter Omar Poveda left the game without giving up a run, Beau Vaughan allowed the two inherited runners to score. Poveda finished with 7.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits, walking three and striking out two. Thomas Diamond (0-1) gave up the winning run in the ninth for the loss. Erick Abreu (3-0) earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief for Corpus.

Gentry and Majewski scored the runs for Frisco as Gentry now has a hit and a run in nine consecutive games.

The RoughRiders will attempt to bounce back in game two on Friday in Corpus Christi with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
