Whitecaps Women's Soccer Series: Match 2

The Whitecaps Women's Soccer Series kicked off this past weekend at Mercer Stadium in New Westminster when the women drew 1-1 against Colorado Force. Wednesday, July 1st at 4:00 pm the women take on Ventura County Fusion in the second match of the series at Swangard Stadium. The women need to win the final four games of their season to have any hope of a top-two finish and a spot in the playoffs. June 20th the Whitecaps defeated the Fusion 3-1 are are looking to repeat the outcome on Wednesday. Tickets for Wednesday's match are $15 at the door, open one hour prior to kickoff. The third and final match of the Whitecaps Women's Soccer Series is Sunday, July 5th at 4:00 pm at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam. The women will face Real Colorado Cougars in their final home game in the regular season. Tickets are $5 at the door, open one hour prior to kickoff.

Summer's Here

The Whitecaps youth soccer camps kicked off Monday in Langely and will run throughout the summer in the Lower Mainland and Okanagan. Kids learn to play like the pros from Whitecaps players and coaches in a fun and encouraging environment. Boys and girls ages 5 to 12 (U6 to U13) of all skill levels are welcome to come out and develop their skills and love of the game. Click here for locations and dates.

Nash Brothers Team Up for Charity

On Tuesday, just after the 'Caps drew 2-2 with the Cleveland City Stars, Captain Martin Nash was on a plane from Ohio to New York to participate in the "Showdown in Chinatown" charity soccer match in Manhattan's Lower East Side. Nash joined professional soccer and basketball players in an event supporting his brother's two charities; 'The Steve Nash Foundation' and 'Football for Good'.

Several high-profile names took part in Wednesday's event, with former USA international Claudio Reyna leading 'Team Reyna' to an 8-5 victory over 'Team Nash'. Top soccer stars included Ryan Babel, Ivan Cordoba, Edgar Davids, Mathieu Flamini, Thierry Henry, Salomon Kalou, Adrian Mutu, and Javier Zanetti. From the world of basketball - Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh, Phoenix Suns star Grant Hill, and San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker were also involved in the charity match.
