Eveland Sharp in Sacramento Victory
June 12, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL) Sacramento River Cats
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Dana Eveland allowed just two runs (one earned) in 6.0 innings and Travis Buck scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error as the River Cats held on for a 3-2 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Saturday night at Raley Field in front of 10,057 fans. Eveland, who allowed only three hits and struck out five, improved his record to 4-0 and his ERA dropped to 3.64. Gregorio Petit gave Sacramento a 2-0 lead in the third with a two-run homer. Mike Morse answered with a two-run shot of his own to tie the game in the fourth. Buck, who singled to lead off the sixth, scored when Tacoma starter Ryan Rowland-Smith's low throw to first bounced into right field on an Anthony Recker bunt attempt. Before the game, the River Cats honored hundreds of local high school athletes who were named to the River Cats All-City high school sports teams. A complete list of the teams can be seen at www.rivercats.com/highschoolawards.
