Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK - The weather and the Isotopes (28-33) threatened all night Friday, but the Express (29-32) beat both of them in a 1-0 win.
Round Rock got on the board in the second inning when Chris Johnson led off with a single to right-center field. Two outs later, Johnson advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jason Smith followed with a double to right field, scoring Johnson for a 1-0 lead.
In his third start since joining the Express from extended spring training, Mark McLemore put together a gem, allowing no runs on three hits with four strikeouts and two walks in six innings of work.
It was McLemore's first win of the season, and his first for the Express since Aug. 8, 2006.
Both teams combined for just eight hits on the night, and Round Rock's four hits were just two more than the season low of two. Still, it propelled the Express into sole possession of first place of the PCL American Southern Division, ahead of the Isotopes and Oklahoma City.
The teams meet again Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Round Rock RHP Jeremy Johnson will take the mound against Albuquerque and former Express LHP Stephen Randolph.
