Long Island Ducks News Release
Foothill Ranch, Calif. - June 4, 2009. - iBN Sports (Interactive Broadcast Network Sports), a premiere Internet-based broadcast sports television network, has reached an agreement with the Long Island Ducks professional baseball team for Internet rights to broadcast all of its remaining home games over the iBN Sports Baseball Channel (www.ibnsports.com). The streaming video of each home game will also be available at www.liducks.com, the team's official web site.
The Ducks are the third team in the Atlantic League to sign with iBN Sports this year, joining the Lancaster Barnstormers and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, who each had their debut broadcasts on iBN in April. iBN is also broadcasting games this season in the American Association, Frontier, Northern, and Can Am Leagues, as well as the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
The iBN Sports Baseball Channel has grown from 3 broadcasts in 2007 to nearly 300 in 2008. With the signing of the Ducks, and other teams about to be announced, iBN Baseball will cover nearly 1,000 professional and collegiate baseball games in 2009. The iBN Sports Network is averaging well over 3 million hits per month.
"We have been pursuing the Ducks since before the 2008 season", commented iBN Baseball Executive Producer Ed Hart. "They are one of the premier independent league teams in the country, and have a great reputation for bringing in talented players on their way up, and former Major Leaguers looking for another shot. We are thrilled to be working with [Ducks General Manager] Mike Pfaff, and his veteran staff. This is a big day for us at iBN."
"This is a tremendous step for us," said Pfaff. "iBN has certainly evolved into one of the major players on the streaming video scene and will help us expand our presence in the market."
The Ducks first broadcast is scheduled for Monday, June 8, at 6:35 ET, vs. the Somerset Patriots.
