Brevard County Manatees News Release

(Viera, FL) Brevard County Manatees pitcher Evan Anundsen has been named the FSL Pitcher of the Week for the period April 27-May 3. Anundsen essentially locked up the award with his first start of the week, when he pitched a no-hitter in the Manatees' 1-0 win over Daytona. He struck out a career high 10 batters en route to the second no-hitter in Brevard County history. Anundsen picked up his second win of the week on Sunday, as the Manatees defeated Lakeland, 4-1. After holding the Flying Tigers hitless into the fourth inning, he finally allowed three hits and a run in the fourth, ending a 12.1 inning streak of no-hit baseball. He finished the outing after five innings, allowing only one run on three hits. For the week, he pitched 14 innings, allowed just one run on three hits and two walks, and struck out 14 batters.

Anundsen, 20, hails from Englewood, CO. He is the third Manatee to earn Player/Pitcher of the Week honors in as many weeks, as his teammates Zelous Wheeler and Caleb Gindl were honored in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively. Anundsen was drafted straight out of Columbine HS as the 122nd overall pick in the 4th round of the 2006 draft. This is his fourth season in the Brewer organization.
