
Palmer to Make Start for Angels Tonight

SALT LAKE CITY (April 23, 2009) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Palmer from Triple-A Salt Lake. Palmer is scheduled to start for the Angels in tonight's home game against the Detroit Tigers. To replace Palmer on the Bees roster, Salt Lake has recalled right-handed pitcher Sean O'Sullivan from Double-A Arkansas.
Palmer, 30, has appeared in two games for the Bees in 2009, owning a 1-1 record with an 11.74 ERA. In 2008, he finished with a 6-10 record and a 4.18 ERA for the Fresno Grizzlies. He has appeared in three major league games, all with the San Francisco Giants in 2008 (0-2, 8.53). Originally drafted by the Giants in the 31st round of the 2002 draft, Palmer signed with the Angels as a free agent on January 10, 2009.
O'Sullivan, 21, has appeared in three games for Arkansas in 2009, registering a 1-2 record with a 5.30 ERA and 14 strikeouts. In 28 games (25 starts) for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga last season, he owned a 16-8 record with a 4.73 ERA. The San Diego, Calif. native was originally selected by the Angels in the third round of the 2005 draft.
