Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club enters the month of February with the best record in the American Hockey League, becoming the first team in the circuit this season to reach the 70-point plateau this past Saturday. HERSHEY'S seventh win in as many games against Norfolk Saturday was the team's 33rd win in 49 games this season.

After a game in Philadelphia Friday, the BEARS host the San Antonio Rampage Saturday night at 7:00 before welcoming the Portland Pirates to town Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for all BEARS home games are on sale now at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.

All good things...: HERSHEY left wing Alexandre Giroux was held without a point Saturday for the first time in a BEARS uniform since November 14. Giroux's point streak ended at 23 straight games, establishing a new franchise record. The old mark of 20 games in a row with at least a point was previously held by Wes Jarvis, who set the record during the 1981-82 season. Giroux is second in the AHL in scoring, three behind teammate and linemate Keith Aucoin.

Home cooking: The BEARS will play six home games in February at GIANT Center, beginning with Saturday's game against San Antonio. HERSHEY will spend just one night in a hotel in February, when the team travels to Rochester on February 20. The Chocolate and White is 18-5-0-2 so far this season along HERSHEYPARK Drive.

Senator sightings: The BEARS will spend a good amount of time in February in the southern tier of New York, facing the Binghamton Senators three times up north this month. HERSHEY will play at Broome County on February 13, February 25 and February 27 before finishing the eight-game season series on March 27. Binghamton played its fourth and final game of the regular season at GIANT Center back on December 27.

Chasing history: HERSHEY needs 19 victories in its final 31games to break the franchise record for victories in a single season. The BEARS set the current record of 51 wins back in 2006-07 under current Washington Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau

Washington update: Following a benchmark win against the Detroit Red Wings Saturday, the Capitals won again 7-4 over the Ottawa Senators Sunday at Verizon Center. Following a game in New Jersey Tuesday night, Washington welcomes Los Angeles to D.C. on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
