D.C. United News Release

Washington, D.C. (December 8, 2008) - D.C. United announced today forward Jaime Moreno underwent successful sports hernia surgery on his right abdominal wall on Saturday. Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck, a specialist who has performed this particular surgery on more than 1,000 professional soccer players worldwide, including Marcelo Gallardo and Gonzalo Peralta earlier this year, performed the operation at her clinic in Munich, Germany. United's captain will be ready for full participation in time for pre-season next year.

Moreno is Major League Soccer's all-time leading goal-scorer with 122 career goals and is a single assist from becoming the first-ever member of the 100 goals-100 assists club. He collected his 99th assist in United's 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on October 16. With ten goals and ten assists during the 2008 season, United's captain has achieved ten-plus goals and ten-plus assists for the fourth season in his career. Only retired forward Jason Kreis has matched the feat and no other player in MLS history has achieved a '10 and 10' season more than twice in a career.
