Tri-City Americans News Release

KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has acquired 18-year-old defenseman Riley McIntosh from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for a 5th-round pick in the 2010 Bantam Draft.

McIntosh, listed at 6'5, 205 lbs, is playing in his third WHL season. He has played in 23 games for Kelowna this season and as appeared in 104-career games, all for the Rockets, while totaling one goal and seven points. The Coquitlam, British Columbia-native was the Rockets' second-round pick (39th overall) in the 2005 Bantam Draft.

"This move enables us to address an age deficiency on our depth chart after the Mestery trade and gives us added depth at the defense position for the remainder of this season," explained Tory. "McIntosh is a very good skater and has good size and experience. He has spent three years with a winning program and we are excited to see what he can bring to our club."

McIntosh is expected to be at practice on Tuesday at the Toyota Center, as the Americans prepare for another busy weekend. First up for Tri-City is a match-up with the Kootenay Ice on Wednesday, December 3. Then, the Americans host a doubleheader weekend, with the Seattle Thunderbirds coming to town on Friday, December 5 and the WHL-leading Calgary Hitmen on Saturday, December 6. All games start at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer outlets, or online at ticketmaster.com.
