Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - Calgary Hitmen General Manager Kelly Kisio announced today 20 year-old forward Ian Duval has been traded to the Moose Jaw Warriors for the rights to 18 year-old forward Derek Grant and a conditional third round bantam pick.

"Unfortunately we have to make some tough decisions with five very good overager's on our roster, but moving Ian to Moose Jaw will give him an excellent opportunity to continue his goal of becoming a professional hockey player," said Kisio. "We would like to thank Ian for his commitment to our organization and to the city of Calgary."

Duval spent almost two seasons with the Hitmen while playing in 125 regular season games. He registered 83 points (40g 43a) but will always be remembered for his series clinching overtime goal in Game 7 of the 2007 Eastern Conference Quarter-Final series against the Kootenay Ice.

In Grant, 6'1" 190lbs, the Hitmen acquire the rights to a center who is playing in the BCHL with the Langley Chiefs. The fourth round pick of the Ottawa Senators in 2008 had 63 points (24g 39a) in 57 games for the Chiefs last season.

The Calgary Hitmen return to action on Wednesday night against the Prince George Cougars. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
