Fort Wayne, IN- Jason Tapp's 31 saves kept the Kalamazoo Wings in the game, but two third period goals were enough to propel the Fort Wayne Komets to a 3-1 victory.

An inspired start from the Komets ignited their offense to fire four shots on net in the opening minute of play, including a blast off the tape of Jay Holliday (1st), who's goal gave Fort Wayne an early 1-0 lead 54 seconds into the contest.

With three first period penalties, the Komets gave the K-Wings plenty of opportunities on the power-play and Kalamazoo proved the third-time was the charm when it came to converting on the man-advantage, as Lucas Drake lit the lamp scoring his second of the preseason on a right circle wrist shot late in the opening period.

With neither team able to push the puck for the goal line in the second period, it was the Komets regaining the lead in the third. Konstantin Shafranov (1st) centering pass got caught under a diving Tommy Lange, who brought the puck past Tapp into his own goal, which game the Komets a lead of 3-2.

Dominic Osman (1st) tacked on some insurance scoring late in the third period with a right circle slap shot to extend the Komets lead to two goals.

Kalamazoo finishes the preseason with a record of 1-2-0-0, while the defending Turner Cup champions will all three of their preseason tilts.
