
IceHogs head to Peoria for preseason opener

Peoria, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs training camp is just five days old and on Wednesday the American Hockey League club gets to drop the puck with the first of two preseason games against the Peoria Rivermen. The game is set for 7 p.m. at Carver Arena in Peoria.
Tonight's contest is the first of two in the preseason between the IceHogs and Rivermen. The West Division foes will also meet in Rockford on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Last season, Rockford and Peoria met twice in preseason with the IceHogs winning both games.
The IceHogs began Wednesday with 24 skaters on its preseason roster, including two goalies, Joe Fallon and Ryan Nie. With player reassignments yet to be made in Chicago with Blackhawks, skaters on Rockford's roster will get an opportunity to showcase themselves for a spot on the regular season roster.
Forwards Petri Kontiola, Evan Brophey and Pascal Pelletier were assigned to Rockford on Wednesday morning and they are not expected to be in the line up tonight.
