Rockford, Ill. - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced Wednesday that the National League Hockey club has assigned three players to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Sent to the IceHogs were forwards Evan Brophey, Petri Kontiola and Pascal Pelletier.

Brophey and Kontiola both played significant roles in the IceHogs' 2007-08 season, appearing in 74 and 49 games respectively. Kontiola collected 13 goals and 44 points in his first season with Rockford. He also spent time with the Chicago Blackhawks last year, notching five points, all assists, in 12 games. The forward also recorded 10 points in 12 Calder Cup Playoff games with Rockford last season.

Brophey is entering his sophomore season at the professional level after amassing four goals and 19 points in 2007-08. Coming off a prolific OHL career, scoring 107 points in his last season with the Plymouth Whalers, Brophey established himself as a penalty kill specialist during his rookie campaign in Rockford.

Pelletier is joining the Blackhawks after spending the last three years as a member of the Boston Bruins' organization. The centerman played in 73 games last season with the Providence Bruins where he led the AHL's top regular season team in goals and points. He was acquired from the Bruins in a trade involving Rockford's 2007-08 points leader, Martin St. Pierre.

The IceHogs Training Camp Roster now stands at 27 players.
