Jackson activated from disabled list

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that OF Austin Jackson has been activated from the Disabled List. INF Cody Ehlers has been given his release by the Yankees Organization.

Jackson has been on the Disabled List since August 23rd. He is hitting .287 with nine home runs and 68 RBI in 128 games for the Thunder. He also has 19 stolen bases. Jackson is third in the Eastern League in hits (146), second in doubles (33), and third in runs scored (74). He participated in the 2008 Eastern League All-Star Game in Manchester, NH. He has had two seven-RBI games this season. He entered the season as the #2 prospect in the Yankees Minor League System according to Baseball America. Last season, he appeared in 60 games for Charleston (Low-A), 67 games for Tampa, and one game for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A). He hit .260 for the River Dogs with three home runs and 25 RBI. He had a .345 BA with 10 home runs and 34 RBI in 67 games for Tampa. He went 1 x 3 with two runs in one game for the Yankees. He also played for the Thunder in the Eastern League playoffs. He was originally an eighth round selection by the Yankees in the 2005 draft.

Ehlers was hitting .200 in 104 games for the Thunder, with eight home runs and 43 RBI. He was hitting .247 after the all-star break. Last season, he hit .252 with eight home runs and 53 RBI in 106 games for the Thunder. He led the Thunder in doubles (31), OBP (.350) and walks (59). He was the Florida State League "Most Valuable Player" for Tampa during 2006. He finished 1st in RBI (106), doubles (38) and extra-base hits (57) in the Florida State League. He hit .298 with 18 home runs. He was selected in the 11th round of the 2004 draft from the University of Missouri.

Trenton plays the second game of a four-game series tonight against the Connecticut Defenders, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. RHP George Kontos (6-11, 3.65) will start for Trenton. LHP Ben Snyder (1-6, 6.14) will start for Connecticut.
