Mississippi Braves News Release
Pearl, MS -- The Mississippi Braves are proud to announce the promotions for the final homestand of the 2008 regular season. During the 10-game homestand, the M-Braves will face the Mobile BayBears and the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx in five-game sets. The Braves final homestand of the 2008 season is packed with promotions.
On Saturday, August 23rd, the always entertaining Birdzerk will be in attendance to entertain M-Braves fans between innings. There will also be a silent auction during the game featuring autographed items and Braves memorabilia.
The Braves FamilyFest will be on Sunday, August 24th when a family of four can get four dugout level seats, four hot dogs or hamburgers, four 16 oz. soft drinks, four bags of peanuts or cracker jacks, four M-Braves baseball caps, two game programs, and free fun zone wristbands for children, for only $52.
Monday August 25th, is Dale Murphy Appreciation Night when the two-time National League MVP will throw out the first pitch and sign autographs for fans. The first 3,200 fans through Trustmark Park's gates will receive a free Chevron gas card.
In addition, Monday the 25th is the last day that the Mississippi Braves will be accepting new, unworn infant's or children's coats between for the Coats for Kids Coat Drive. The first 100 fans who donate a coat will receive a pair of tickets to the August 25th ballgame. All coats will be donated to Mississippi Children's Home Services, Sunnybrook Children's Home and The Center for Violence Prevention. Coats may be dropped off at Trustmark Park during normal business hours*. Tickets will be awarded when coats are donated.
The Batter Up for Stewpot charity softball game will take place before the Braves' game against Mobile on Tuesday, August 26th. Barbour's Bombers and the Media Giants will play the celebrity charity softball game that will benefit Stewpot and fans that bring two cans of food will receive half-priced admission. It's also Law Enforcement Appreciation night when any member of any Mississippi Law Enforcement Division, including State, Sheriff, and Local Police from any town or city in Mississippi, will be admitted to the game, along with their family for HALF PRICE. Members of law enforcement should show their ID, badge, or wear their uniform in order to receive the discount. In addition, it's Trustmark Two for Tuesday when all tickets, hot dogs, fountain drinks, and popcorn will be 2 for 1.
Wednesday, August 27th will be Firefighters' Appreciation Night at the ballpark. Any member of any firefighting division in the state of Mississippi will be admitted to the game, along with their family, for half price. It's also Kids Night at the stadium when children 14 and under will get field level seats for only $2, fun zone wristbands for only $5, and personal pizzas from the Hot Corner Slice concession stand for only $4.
On Thursday night, August 28th, the M-Braves will celebrate the teachers and educators of Mississippi. All teachers and educators and their families will receive half-priced admission after showing their school ID or business card. It's also Thirsty Thursday when all 16 oz. fountain drinks and draft beer will be only $1.
Friday, August 29th will be the first Fan Appreciation night during the game and the Braves will feature their Friday Night Fireworks Extravaganza after the game. The M-Braves will give away thousands of dollars worth of prizes all night long for Fan Appreciation Night.
Also on the 29th, national recording star Dorothy Moore will be on hand to perform the Star Spangled Banner. Dorothy is most famous for her 1976 hit Misty Blue.
On Saturday, August 30th, the M-Braves will celebrate the second consecutive Fan Appreciation Night with thousands of dollars worth of prizes, but also by welcoming Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame members Mack Cameron, Hill Denson, Doug Hutton, Willie Richardson, Marvin Terrell, Sammy Winder, Dr. Walker Reed and Rev. Dave McIntosh will all be in attendance. The Hall-of-Famers will sign autographs for fans while the Mayberry Deputy entertains those in attendance between innings.
Sunday, August 31st will be the Braves second FamilyFest of the homestand. Monday, September 1st will be the M-Braves final regular season game of the 2008 season. The Braves will take on the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx at 1:05 pm. The M-Braves will celebrate the Mississippi Army National Guard with a military display at the stadium and a fly-over following the National Anthem. It'll be Dollar Dog Monday when hot dogs are $1, Military Monday when any member of an US Military division can get field level seats for themselves and their families for $2, and Church Bulletin Monday when fans can get half-priced admission by presenting a church bulletin.
