BayBears Bite Jaxx with Early Rally

MOBILE, Ala. - A five-run first inning paced the BayBears as they rolled over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 6-2 on Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium, evening their five-game series at one apiece.

After Brent Johnson ripped a lead-off home run to start the ballgame against Matt Green (2-2), the BayBears jumped on West Tenn (65-61, 24-32) starter Tracy Thorpe (1-1).

Yunesky Sanchez doubled down the third base line and scored on a hit by Bryan Byrne. Gerardo Parra's double to the wall in right-center brought Byrne to the plate before John Hester cracked a three-run homer to close out the rally.

Green settled in from there and worked five innings while allowing three hits, including another home run to Noah Hall. Javier Brito also went deep for the BayBears in the sixth to finish the scoring.

Jason Urquidez and Vince Bongiovanni were solid out of the bullpen as the two combined for four scoreless innings while surrendering just one and striking out seven.

After coughing up a lead-off home run and then putting two men on in the first with a walk and hit by pitch, Green reeled off three straight perfect innings.
