Fox Blasts the Biscuits, 4-2

Montgomery, AL- The Tennessee Smokies (56-71, 29-28) used a Jake Fox homerun and his three runs batted in to defeat the Montgomery Biscuits (65-60, 31-25) 4-2, at Riverwalk Staduim Tuesday night in front of 2,898.

Jake Fox supplied the Smokies three early runs. He cracked a hot roller to centerfield in the first inning driving home Nate Spears. The singled made it 1-0 Tennessee after one inning. Then with the Smokies trailing 2-1 in the fourth he launched a majestic two-run blast. The homerun gave Tennessee a lead 3-2.

Sergio Pedroza smacked a two-run homerun in the second inning which gave Montgomery a short lived 2-1 advantage.

Esmailin Caridad (6-3) pitched 7 innings in the start allowing just 2 hits and two runs. He issued only one base-on-balls and struck out three.

The Smokies added a run in the top of the ninth. Tyler Colvin lined his league leading tenth triple scoring Fox for a 4-2 Tennessee lead.

Jose Ceda sealed the Tennessee win by strikeout the side in the ninth to record his eighth save.

The Smokies will return home to face the Carolina Mudcats in a five game series from August 23rd through 27th. The team returns home Saturday, August 23, playing the last regular season homestand of the year, against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
