Campbell and Arencibia hit two HRs apiece in 8-1 rout of Rock Cats

Manchester, NH- Scott Campbell and J.P. Arencibia both hit a pair of home runs, and Robert Ray allowed no earned runs over 5.2 innings as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats won their third straight game, 8-1, over the New Britain Rock Cats before a crowd of 5,712 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Campbell, who homered in his final at bat Saturday night, led off the bottom of the first inning with his seventh home run of the season, taking losing pitcher Yohan Pino's 2-0 pitch onto the access road in right-centerfield. Ryan Patterson (0-for-3, BB, R) followed with a walk, advanced to third on a hit-and-run single by Travis Snider (1-for-4) and scored on Arencibia's sacrifice fly, giving New Hampshire a 2-0 lead.

The Fisher Cats increased the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning on a deep sacrifice fly to left off the bat of Ryan Klosterman (1-for-3, SF, RBI) with the bases loaded, scoring David Smith (2-for-4, 2B, R) from third.

Arencibia (2-for-3, 2 HR, SF, 3 RBI) would make it 4-0 by stroking his seventh home run of the season, a solo shot into the Poultry Products Dinner in the Den off Pino in the bottom of the third inning.

Campbell (2-for-5, 2 HR, 3 RBI) added his career-high eighth home run in the fourth inning, taking Pino deep with Andrew Pinckney (2-for-4, 2B, R) aboard to give New Hampshire a 6-1 lead.

Pino (3-4) went four innings, allowing six runs on eight hits. The right-hander struck out three and walked two.

Arencibia's second home run of the game, and eighth of the season, was a leadoff shot to the patio in the bottom of the fifth inning off Jason Miller, increasing the Fishers' lead to 7-1.

Ray (4-4) departed after 5.2 innings, having allowed only one unearned run. The right-hander scattered seven hits, struck out five and walked four to snap a personal three-game losing streak.

The Rock Cats scored their lone run off Ray in the top of the fifth inning when Drew Butera (1-for-4, R) reached on an error and later scored on an infield single from Matt Moses (1-for-3, 2 BB, RBI).

New Hampshire tied a franchise record with its fifth home run of the game when Brian Jeroloman (2-for-3, HR, 2B, BB, RBI) tagged a Frank Mata offering for his sixth homer of the season in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving New Hampshire an 8-1 lead.

Jean Machi worked 3.1 shutout innings to notch his first save of the season. The right-hander yielded one hit, struck out two and walked one.

The Fisher Cats open a four-game series at Merchantsauto.com Stadium Monday night at 7:05pm against the Northern Division-leading Trenton Thunder. Right-hander Kenny Rodriguez (1-2, 6.60) pitches for New Hampshire against Trenton righty Jason Jones (10-3, 2.28).
