
Amalio Diaz Joins Rotation, Butcher Disabled

Arvest Ballpark, Springdale, Arkansas - Right-handed pitcher Amalio Diaz joins the Travs on Monday to replace Brok Butcher in the Travs starting pitching rotation. Diaz will pitch Monday's series opener in Northwest Arkansas after posting a record of 7-4 with a 4.28 ERA in 17 starts at Rancho Cucamonga. Butcher, 5-5 with a 6.00 ERA in 17 starts, lands on the seven-day disabled list with right biceps tendonitis.
Diaz, 21, made six starts for the 2007 Travs with a 0-2 record and 4.58 ERA. He earned Texas League co-pitcher of the week for a nine-inning, no-run, five-hit performance in a no-decision at Corpus Christi on May 30, 2007. After pitching at three levels in the Angels' system last year, Diaz began the 2008 season at Rancho Cucamonga. He comes to the Travs after wins in each of his last four decisions.
Butcher goes to the disabled list after allowing a 12.09 ERA in his last four starts.
