Frisco RoughRiders News Release
The RoughRiders and Missions managed just 11 hits between them, but Frisco came out on top Monday night 2-0. âRiders starter Eric Hurley, making a rehab start for the Rangers, made his return to Dr Pepper Ballpark and looked as comfortable as ever. Julio Borbon and Hank Blalock, who is also in Frisco on a rehab stint, each had RBI doubles to knock in the only two runs of the ballgame.
The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning when Tim Gradoville singled and scored on an RBI double by Julio Borbon. Later in the inning, Blalock doubled in Elvis Andrus to put Frisco up 2-0. Andrus extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a single.
Hurley, who has been nursing a sore hamstring, went 7.1 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits, all singles, and striking out two on 87 total pitches. Brennan Garr earned his fourth save, pitching the final 1.2 frames. Hurley went 7-2, 3.25 last season with Frisco and was 1-1, 3.57 thus far with the Rangers in 2008.
Blalock, who played first base and hit clean-up in the order, finished 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Stephen Faris (5-3) was the tough-luck loser for San Antonio, allowing just two runs in six innings, while striking out six. Jose Lobaton had the only multi-hit performance for either team with two singles.
The âRiders and Missions will go at it again tomorrow from Dr Pepper Ballpark as Frisco sends Michael Ballard (8-3, 4.13) to the hill to face San Antonio's Will Inman (8-4, 3.02). First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
