Pelicans Tenth Anniversary Team To Be Unveiled Friday

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will unveil the franchise's Official Tenth Anniversary Team presented by the Sun News as part of a special pre-game, on-field ceremony prior to the Pelicans 7:05 PM game against the Salem Avalanche on Friday, July 11th at BB&T Coastal Field. Video greetings from selected players and other special content will highlight the ceremony.
The Pelicans Tenth Anniversary team presented by the Sun News will consist of 14 top players from the franchise's first 10 seasons. One first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, third baseman, catcher and relief pitcher will be named to the team, as will three starting pitchers, three outfielders and two extra position players.
The team has been selected based exclusively on a fan voting process, which began in March and concluded on June 30th. Pelicans' fans had the opportunity to vote on the Tenth Anniversary Team presented by the Sun News in person at BB&T Coastal Field, on-line at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com and MyrtleBeachOnline.com, and on ballots which were printed inside the Pelicans In-Flight Magazine Game Program.
Several of the players selected to the Tenth Anniversary Team will be featured on a series of six (6) Photo Baseball Giveaway Nights, which will be held over the final two months of the 2008 season. Tenth Anniversary Team Photo Baseballs will be handed out to the first 2,000 fans attending the following games:
