Frederick Keys News Release

Lynchburg got every big two-out hit as the Keys went a woeful 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position in a 5-1 loss at City Stadium in Lynchburg, VA. The loss finished the Keys road trip at 2-4 and sent Frederick into their off day five games in back of the Hillcats for the North's final playoff spot.

The game started ten minutes late due to rain, and Keys starter Jake Renshaw was not around long. Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Lynchburg RF Jamie Romak hit his second home run of the night, a two-run drive down the left field line to put the Hillcats atop 4-0. Renshaw was upset arguing the ball was foul and was ejected by home plate umpire A.J. Johnson.

Keys DH Chris Vinyard had to leave the game early after he jammed his ankle returning to second base on a pickoff play in the fourth inning. Todd Davison came into to replace Vinyard and went 1-for-2.

1B Brandon Snyder had another big night going 2-for-4. Unfortunately all four of his at-bats came with the bases empty. Snyder finished the series with eight hits in three games.

The Keys head home for the first ever Peanut Free Night at Harry Grove Stadium Wednesday, July 9th. The 7:00 p.m. start pits Frederick against Winston-Salem in the first of three games to kick off an eight game homestand.
