Storm Send Three All-Stars to Myrtle Beach

Lake Elsinore, CA June 10, 2008 - The California League announced its 2008 All-Star team Monday, and the Storm will be represented by three sluggers at the 12th annual California/Carolina League All-Star Game. Eric Sogard, Cedric Hunter and Sam Carter have all been selected as a part of the 22-man roster that will take on the Carolina League All-Stars on June 24 at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Eric Sogard is a second baseman in his second year out of Arizona State who owns the league's fifth highest batting average at .333. Eric has been a doubles machine this year by racking up 18 two-baggers while driving in 35 runs. Sogard also leads the league with a .441 on base percentage after drawing 45 walks in just 61 games played.

Cedric Hunter was a third round pick of the Padres in 2006 and prior to the season was rated by Baseball America as eighth best prospect in the Padres organization. Now Cedric is an all-star with a .307 batting average, 16 doubles and four home runs. Hunter also leads the league with 55 runs scored.

Outfielder Sam Carter has supplied the power in the middle of the Storm lineup this year by belting 10 homers and 16 doubles. Carter is currently third in the California League with 52 runs batted in.

On Saturday June 21 the Storm will hold an All-Star Celebration presented by Bud Light in the Diamond Club restaurant after the game which starts at 7:08pm. Entrance will be $5 with a game ticket and $10 without and all guests must be 21 and over. A pair of bands will supply the entertainment as The Drowning Men from San Diego and Opus Humanus from Canyon Lake will each play a set once the festivities are underway.
