Indiana Fever News Release
NEWS & NOTES
- With its win against the Washington Mystics, May 17, the Fever won its home opener for the sixth consecutive season and won its first game of the regular season overall for the fifth straight year.
- Katie Douglas' 24 points in the opener vs. Washington, May 17, were the most ever scored by a player in her Fever debut.
- Washington's 53 points were the fewest by a Fever opponent at Conseco Fieldhouse since the New York Liberty scored 50 points in the final game of the 2005 regular season, August 27, 2005. The only time any opponent scored fewer than 53 since that game was in the Fever's 77-44 win at New York, August 8, 2006.
- Including four from rookie Khadijah Whittington, the Fever blocked seven shots against the Mystics, May 17. Whittington's total tied the Fever rookie record for blocked shots in a single game.
- After committing 11 turnovers in the first half against the Mystics, the Fever had just three second-half miscues. Conversely, Washington had 11 turnovers in each half and the Fever outscored the Mystics, 17-12, in points off turnovers.
- Of the 10 players to see action for the Fever vs. Washinton, seven had at least one steal and the team totaled 11 thefts. Tully Bevilaqua had a team-high three steals, giving her a total of 376 thefts in her illustrious career. That total is 17th best on the WNBA's all-time career steals list.
- Alison Bales' bench-high seven points vs. the Mystics featured the first 3-pt field goal of her regular season career. Her lone attempt from long distance was her first in the WNBA.
- The Fever's game at Detroit on Wednesday, May 21, is the first of a two-game road trip that will conclude on Tuesday, May 27 at Connecticut. The Fever will not play more than two straight games on the road until September. Indiana's first four games of that month will be on the road, including stops in Washington, Detroit, Atlanta and Minnesota.
- Indiana's game at Connecticut, May 27, will be the first of two Fever contests aired on ESPN2 this season. The game at New York on Thursday, June 26, will also be part of ESPN2's Tuesday night game of the week package.
