LANCASTER, Pa.-The premier high school baseball event in Lancaster and Lebanon counties will take place at Clipper Magazine Stadium in 2008. The championship of the Lancaster-Lebanon League baseball tournament will be played at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Thursday, May 15. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The Lancaster-Lebanon League includes 24 schools of all classifications (Class A through AAAA) in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Since 1986, the L-L League has produced five teams that have gone on to win state championships, including Lampeter-Strasburg, which won its second state title in 2005.

"We expect to see a great baseball game between two state baseball powers on May 15," Lancaster Barnstormers general manager Kevin Cummings said. "Our local high school baseball teams are routinely in the state title mix at all classifications, and it's our pleasure to host these great players and coaches at the ballpark."

All tickets are general admission and can be purchased through the stadium box office or online at www.LancasterBarnstormers.com. Tickets are $3 for students and $6 for adults.

"When we first took our basketball championships to Hershey's Giant Center, it was very exciting for basketball," said Richard Balderston, executive director of the L-L League. "I think Clipper Magazine Stadium will be equally exciting for our baseball kids, their families and their fans. As a league, we think this is a very exciting event for the community."

Since the L-L League was organized in 1972, hundreds of players have gone on to successful careers with major college baseball programs including some who have gone on to compete professionally. Current Barnstormers pitcher Eric Ackerman is an L-L League product from Cocalico High School.

"We are looking forward to playing the Lancaster-Lebanon League's showcase event in Lancaster's ultimate venue for baseball," said J.D. Stern of the L-L Baseball Coaches Association.

Gates for the L-L championship will open at 6 p.m., and stadium concessions will be available.
