Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release

Hagerstown, Md. - Greensboro suffered two one-run losses Saturday as the Hoppers and Suns completed the April 27 suspended game and played their regularly scheduled contest. Hagerstown took the suspended game, 5-4, and captured a 4-3 victory in the nightcap.

The Hoppers have now dropped five straight games to Hagerstown the season, the most losses to the Suns in a single season in Grasshoppers history.

In the first game, Greensboro held a 4-3 lead heading into the top of the ninth inning and manager Edwin Rodriguez brought in Hoppers closer Garrett Parcell in hopes he would pick up his eighth save of the season. The righty walked two batters and gave up a hit to blow his save opportunity of the season; the Suns scored twice and handed Parcell his second loss.

Greensboro again jumped out in front in game two with a run in the top of the third and after giving up two runs in the bottom half of the inning, got them right back with two of their own in the fourth. But the Suns tacked on another two-run inning in the sixth to go up by a final score of 4-3.

From the plate, the Hoppers collected just four hits in the second game with all four hits coming from the 7-8-9 batters in the lineup. The first six batters combined to go 0-for-22 and struck out 10 times, including a single-game high, four strikeouts by Mike Stanton.

Greensboro continues its eight-game road trip Sunday with the Game 2 against Hagerstown beginning at 2:05 p.m. RHP Colby Miller (0-5, 6.08) is slated to take the mound for Greensboro while Hagerstown is expected to counter with RHP Colten Willems (2-2, 4.63).

The Hoppers return home May 8 to take on the Lake County Captains in a four-game set as part of an eight-game homestand. The homestand includes two Thirsty Thursday's, two post-game fireworks shows, Reggy "The Purple Party Dude", Babe's Bark in the Park night and much more.
