Atlanta Dream Announces Danielle Donehew as Executive Vice President

ATLANTA, April 30, 2008 - The Atlanta Dream has hired Danielle Donehew as Executive Vice President, it was announced today by Team President Bill Bolen. The Donehew announcement was made in conjunction with several additional key hires made today by Bolen in a separate release.

"Danielle brings a wealth of knowledge from both the basketball and business sides of the women's basketball industry," said Team President Bill Bolen. "We are fortunate to have her on staff and look forward to working with her."

Donehew, who grew up in the Greater Atlanta area, was a three sport standout at Sequoyah High School in Canton and still holds the record for most varsity letters earned (11), male or female.

Donehew has spent the last seven years with the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball program, most recently serving as the Assistant Athletics Director for Basketball Operations. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Tennessee.

At Tennessee, Donehew handled all operational and logistical tasks, working directly with legendary Head Coach, Pat Summitt. Over time, her duties and efficiency grew. For her effort and results, she was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Basketball Operations, where she continued her mastery of operational duties and added a larger role in the area of Development and Financial Gift Giving.

At Georgia Tech, Donehew excelled on the basketball court where she established herself as one of the premier perimeter shooters, finishing third all-time in the Atlantic Coast Conference for three-point field goals made. Donehew was the recipient of numerous accolades during her collegiate career, including: Georgia Tech's NCAA Woman of the Year Representative, Academic All-American, GT Total Person Spotlight Award, GT Robert Cup Winner, GT Basketball Iron Athlete Award, Homer Rice Award Scholarship and an ACC Post Graduate Scholarship.

The Atlanta Dream will open their training camp on April 20. The Dream was officially announced as the 14th team in the WNBA on October 17, 2007. The Dream will begin play in May 2008 at Philips Arena, joining the Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Detroit Shock, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty and Washington Mystics in the Eastern Conference. The team will tip-off in its first regular season home game on Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. against defending Eastern Conference Champions the Detroit Shock.
