Trenton defeats Harrisburg 8-4 to split four-game series at Waterfront Park

(Trenton, NJ)- LHP Chase Wright tossed six solid innings, and 2B Kevin Russo and 3B Marcos Vechionacci each had 3 RBI as the Thunder defeated Harrisburg 8-4 on Sunday afternoon at Waterfront Park. The Thunder split the four-game series against Harrisburg.
Down 1-0 in the 2nd inning, Trenton (6-5) loaded the bases with one out against Harrisburg RHP Ismael Ramirez (0-2). Vechionacci then delivered an RBI single to knot the score at 1-1. Russo followed with a bases-clearing double to give the Thunder a 4-1 lead. The Thunder would tack on three more runs in the 3rd inning to increase the lead to 7-1. With two outs in the inning, Vechionacci connected on a two-run double. SS Ramiro Pena would complete the scoring in the inning on an RBI single.
Wright (2-1) went six innings and gave up only five hits and one earned run. He struck out two and walked two. Wright is now 3-0 in three career starts against the Harrisburg Senators. Ramirez pitched five innings and gave up nine hits and seven runs. He walked five and struck out one.
The Thunder scored its final run in the 8th inning on an RBI single by Colin Curtis. Curtis, who had two hits in the game, leads the Thunder with 8 RBI. C P.J. Piliterre also had three hits in the win.
Trenton will continues its homestand on Monday at 7:05 p.m. in the first game of a three-game series against the Altoona Curve (Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates). RHP George Kontos (0-1, 4.00) starts for the Thunder against RHP Josh Hill (0-1).
