March 13, 2008 - International League (IL1)
Gwinnett Stripers News Release
RICHMOND, VA- The Atlanta Braves assigned four players to Richmond Wednesday. Pitchers Charlie Morton, Phil Stockman, Zach Schreiber, and Matt DeSalvo have been placed on the R-Braves roster.
Morton spent 2007 with Double-A Mississippi and enjoyed an excellent Arizona Fall League stint with Peoria (4-1 2.57). Stockman battled through an injury-filled 2007 but had a 1.72 ERA in nine outings with Richmond. Schreiber did not allow a run in six innings in the Governors' Cup playoffs last year. DeSalvo helped lead Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to a division title last year and earned four call-ups to the Yankees.
Morton, Stockman, and Schreiber are on Atlanta's 40-man major league roster. DeSalvo was a non-roster invitee. Also Wednesday infielders Diory Hernandez and Javier Guzman were re-assigned to minor league camp. They were both non-roster invitees. Each hit over .300 at Double-A last season.
The R-Braves open defense of their IL championship Thursday, April 3, 2008 vs. Rochester at 4 PM. For information on 2008 tickets and corporate partnership opportunities please call the Braves at 359-4444, e-mail tickets@rbraves.com or visit www.rbraves.com.
